공원 관리인의 집

이탈리아 볼로냐의 MAST 재단이 31세 이하 건축가를 대상으로 진행한 ‘공원 관리인의 집’ 설계공모에 당선된 젊은 건축가 카밀라 데 카밀리의 설계안이 완공되었다. 주어진 과제는 벨포조-바치오키 공원 내에 주거 공간 80m²와 서비스 공간 16m²를 설계하는 것으로 총 건설 비용이 20만 유로를 넘지 않아야 했다. 관리소는 보조 경로를 통해 드나들 수 있고, 공원 부지의 연속된 존재로서 기존 경사 지형을 해치지 않고 자연스럽게 배치해야 했다. 요구 조건에 따라 경사면에 놓인 건물 바닥은 계단으로 변형되었다. 지붕의 수평선은 자연 환경과 대비되는 인공 건축물의 존재를 한층 부각시킨다. 콘크리트 기단 위로 목재 기둥과 목재 빔이 견고하게 구조를 형성한다.
입구에 들어서면 좁은 복도가 정면으로 길게 이어진다. 복도 한쪽 면은 기둥 사이 유리를 통해 바깥이 내다보인다. 이는 앞마당 너머에 서 있는 17세기 빌라의 아치형 회랑을 닮았다. 회랑 측면에서 햇빛이 쏟아지듯 유리창으로 들어오는 햇살이 복도를 밝힌다. 가장 넓은 거실과 침실, 옷장과 화장실, 기계실까지 기본적인 생활이 가능하도록 갖춘 집의 모든 공간은 기둥 간격을 기준으로 계획되었다. 한정된 비용으로 최소한의 조건을 갖춰 지은 목조 건축물의 가능성은 그렇게 실현되었다.
